If you occasionally need to import a full res file using a laptop or the iPad you can do it. It’s the same process if you use Lr CC on an iPad or a smartphone. You can edit the photos in either computer and the edits will sync. On the secondary laptop you install Lr CC and the smart previews will automatically download. You sync, without limit, any or all of them to the Cloud as Smart previews. You can use LrC (Classic) on your office pc where you import the original photos.
